On the Coast
Even in August you can find an almost deserted beach.On the penisular there are normally nice waves to have fun with. Around Royan and St George de Didonne there are very safe beaches for the less confident. You can also check out the beaches between Royan and La Palmyre
This area of France is the largest producer of Oysters in France. In La Tramblade you can watch the fisherman bring in their catch and there are plenty of places to sample them.

La Rochelle is lively resort town with a lovely port. There are many ways to entertain yourself here with something for everyone, from an aquariums to some very old buildings. They also have great Ice Cream. a great place to spend the day and if you spend the evening there you can watch the street entertainment after a nice meal.
You can see these fishing nets around much of the coast in this area
Visit Meschers sur Gironde where you can walk through the caves of the troglodytes.
Why not extend the day and spend the evening in La Rochelle. You could have a great meal and watch the street entertainment before you travel back to Courcoury.
